Border Reivers are delighted to offer this fantastic Healey (what dealer wouldn’t ?) One of only 640 Genuine Factory cars & one of only two in this fabulous colour combination of Florida Green & Ivory White

This Austin Healey 100M was built 3rd of March 1956 & despatched to a US Serviceman based in Yokohama, Japan.

Chassis Number BN2-L/230698

Engine Number 1B/230698

Body Number 12210

The British Motor Industry Heritage Trust Certificate confirms it originality as a Genuine factory built Austin Healey 100 ‘Le Mans’

it also confirms the Colour

Black interior

Black Top

all matching numbers.

The car as mentioned above was originally delivered to a US Serviceman stationed at Yokohama in Japan. It was taken back to the states when his tour of duty had ended. Im sure it enjoyed its early life as all Healey should. We don’t have a lot of early history however we do know it ended up as a static display in a restaurant, probably when it had no value. When values started rising some eagle-eyed car guy did some close investigation & realised it was a BN2 100M. He managed to persuade the restaurant owner to part with it. It was entrusted to our friend Tom Kovacs at Fourintune for restoration (1994). It changed hands twice that we know of since the restoration before finally being imported to the UK (2011)

The new owner wasn’t happy with it mechanically as he intended to do some international classic rallies and needed reliability. He sent the car straight to Denis Welch motorsport they rebuilt almost every part.

The gearbox (£4313.93) 28-12-2011

The Diff ,Brakes, Suspension( £16,000) 30-01-2012

The fuel system inc a new aluminium tank (£2681.45) 29-02-2012

The engine inc Steel Crankshaft/steel rods (£15166.45)29-02-2012

The steering system high ratio etc (£8314.60) 29-02-2012Batterys,fuel pumps etc, etc (£5156.90) 07-03-2012

More invoices from Denis Welsh motorsport 31-01-2019

invoices total in excess of £50,ooo.oo at Dennis Welsh Motorsports

New wheels & tyres 21-12-2020 £1600.00

As you can see the car wants for nothing & money has been well spent. The cars been well used on classic rallies but wanted for nothing. As you can see from the pictures it’s presented in Fantastic condition both body & paint. I genuinely believe this is the best sorted 100M in the world. We have all the Denis Welsh Motorsport invoices. The car has FIVA papers,MSA papers (Historic Technical Passport). We also have the original Le-Mans 24 hr headlights (boxed)

Drives like only a well sorted car can. This is a great investment & represents very good value.

Eligible for all good motor sports events like Goodwood Revival, Classic Le-mans, Mille-Miglia etc etc

Race Retro Classic and Competition Car Sale 2023

1956 Austin Healey 100M BN2 Factory-built

A genuine, Factory-built BN2 100M that includes a Tom Kovacs rebuild and a Dennis Welch engine in its CV.

REG NUMBER 894 XUJ

ODOMETER READING 16819 Miles

Resplendent in its original colour scheme of Florida Green over Ivory with a black interior and hood, this extremely rare matching numbers 'Factory' 100/4 BN2 ‘100M’ was built on 3rd March 1956, as confirmed by the BMIHT Heritage Certificate, before being despatched to a US serviceman in Yokohama, Japan eventually returning to the United States of America with him at the end of his tour of duty. It appears to have spent some time as an exhibit in a restaurant before being unearthed as a genuine ‘Factory 100M’ and restored by Tom Kovacs at Fourintune, renowned Austin Healey specialist based in Cedarburg, Wisconsin.

Changing hands a couple of times post-rebuild, the BN2 was eventually imported to the UK in 2011 and was correctly UK-registered at that time. With International tours and rallies in mind, its new custodian decided that a mechanical refresh and upgrade was required and entrusted the work to Healey 'guru', Dennis Welch. The work included a full engine rebuild incorporating a steel crankshaft and rods, a full gearbox rebuild, complete suspension, brake and final drive refurbishment, high-ratio steering, an alloy fuel tank and to complete the extensive refurbishment, new wheels and tyres. With expenditure totalling some £50,000, this genuine ‘factory’ BN2 100M, one of just 640 produced, must now be one of the very best available.

Complete with FIVA and MSA paperwork, this outstanding Healey is eligible for a variety of prestige events within the world of historic motorsport and would be welcome anywhere.
