This 1956 Austin-Healey BN2 Roadster is one of 640 100M examples produced over a 10-month span, and it was built to North American specifications in June 1956. The car is said to have undergone refurbishment that was completed in 2008, and it was reportedly driven in the 2015 Mille Miglia in Italy prior to the seller’s acquisition in 2018. The car is finished in green and white over black leather and powered by a numbers-matching 2,660cc inline-four mated to a four-speed manual transmission with overdrive. Equipment includes 15″ wire wheels, a louvered hood with leather straps, a folding windshield, a Monit rally tripmeter, and a wood-rim steering wheel. Service in 2021 included a transmission rebuild, replacement of the clutch components, and installation of four Vresdestein tires. This 100M is offered at no reserve with a black tonneau cover and side curtains, a British Motor Industry Heritage Trust Certificate, a 100M Registry Certificate of Membership, recent service records, and a clean Arizona title in the name of the seller’s trust.
The car was refinished in its factory shade of Florida Green with contrasting Ivory White lower bodywork during the refurbishment completed in 2008. The leather bonnet strap securing the louvered hood is noted on the BMIHT certificate as factory 100M equipment, and the bumpers have been removed and replaced with rear bumperettes and Lucas front driving lamps, and additional equipment includes fender-mounted mirrors and a folding windshield. A black tonneau cover and side curtains are included in the sale.
Painted 15″ wire wheels with two-eared knock-offs are mounted with 185/70 Vredestein Sprint Classic tires that were mounted in March 2021. Additional services performed in 2021 include repacking the wheel bearings, replacing the brake shoes and springs, and rebuilding the brake master cylinder.
The seats are upholstered in black leather, and the cabin features matching door panels and rubber floor covering. Equipment includes a Monit Q-10 rally tripmeter, a passenger grab handle, competition-style shoulder and lap belts, and a 100M Registry plaque affixed to the painted metal dashboard. Included records indicate that the driver’s seat track was replaced in September 2021.
The wood-rimmed steering wheel fronts a 120-mph speedometer, a Denis Welch tachometer, a fuel gauge, and a combination oil-pressure and water-temperature gauge. The five-digit odometer shows 52k miles, approximately 7k of which were added by the seller.
The numbers-matching 2,660cc inline-four was refurbished in 2005 by Denis Welch Motorsport of Staffordshire, England, and features twin SU HD6 carburetors, a polished aluminum valve cover, 8.1:1-compression pistons, a high-lift camshaft, and a cold-air box. The seller notes that service in 2021 included replacement of the rear main seal and battery.
Engine stamping “1B233047M” matches the number listed on the British Motor Industry Heritage Trust.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission with electronic overdrive. The transmission was rebuilt in May 2021, at which time the clutch components were replaced.
The British Motor Industry Heritage Trust certificate indicates a build date in June 1956 along with factory options and serial numbers.

*One of the desirable 640 factory 100M Le Mans examples made
*Driven on prominent international rallies, including the Italian Mille Miglia in 2015
*Matching-numbers example, finished in as-delivered livery of Florida Green over Ivory
*Documented by British Heritage Trust and 100M Le Mans Registry Certificates
Offered here is a matching-numbers example of the increasingly popular and rare, factory 100M Le Mans Austin-Healey, eligible for some of the most prominent motoring events around the Globe. In fact, this very example proves this fact, having participated in the legendary Italian Mille Miglia, among other international events. According to its Heritage Trust Certificate, this fine Austin-Healey was completed at the Longbridge Healey Works as a BN2 model, and factory equipped with the 100M Le Mans package, including a louvered hood, cold air intake, and other performance enhancing details. Furthermore, it featured the four-speed overdrive transmission, and the numerous improvements implemented during the course of production since the introduction of the BN1 in 1953. The left-hand-drive Austin-Healey was like most of these iconic British Roadsters destined for the North American market and finished in the same striking livery as it sports today; with the Roadster bodywork finished in two-tone Florida Green over Ivory, and the interior trimmed in Black.
A complete restoration to factory specifications was carried out in the UK around 2008, and the 100M is reported to have had just 52,000 original miles prior to this restoration. Around that time, the original 2,660cc inline-four was refurbished by Denis Welch Motorsport of Staffordshire, England. After a successful run on the 2015 Italian Mille Miglia, the Healey was was acquired by its most recent owner and imported to the United States later that decade. Keeping with the classic car rally theme, this 100M has been outfitted with a Monit rally tripmeter, Denis Welch tachometer, Moto-Lita wood-rimmed steering wheel, Lucas driving lamps, twin fuel pumps and straight-cut first and second gears, while the bumpers have been removed and replaced with bumperettes at the rear, very much like the 100S Competition cars. A comprehensive service carried out in 2021 included installment of new painted 15″ wire wheels shod on Vredestein Sprint Classic tires, repacking the wheel bearings, replacing the brake shoes, springs, rebuilt brake master cylinder, a gearbox rebuild and fitment of a new clutch.
Since then, the 100M has continued its participation in exclusive classic car rallies, including outings on the Copperstate 1000, the California Mille and the SCM 1000. One of the rare 640 Factory 100M Le Mans models, this fine example is true to the model's performance heritage and would be a shoo-in on classic car driving events and rallies. The Healey's engine and body tags are still intact, and match that of the BMIHT Certificate and 100M Le Mans Registry Certificate of Membership offered with the car. Further records offered with the car includes restoration photos and maintenance/restoration receipts. Mille Miglia eligible, the classic 100M Le Mans Healey remains one of the most popular mid-century sports cars ever produced, and this fine example deserves serious consideration.
