Car was again at auction in '05
www.motorbase.com/auctionlot/by-id/909341907/

Auction info:
Classic Cars, H&H Classic Auctions Ltd (8th June 2005)
We are told that the BMC 3-litre six-cylinder engine has Holbay modifications with cylinder head and pistons renewed, high pressure oil pump and triple Webers. The exhaust manifold is special, too, as is the more period side-exit exhaust. Instead of the standard front disc/rear drum brake set-up, there are now discs all round with twin servos. More visible factory team car tweaks include wing and scuttle vents and works hardtop. The vendor tells us that only some 6000 miles have been driven since all the work was completed. Current condition of chassis rails is claimed to be excellent, body panels and red paintwork very good, wire wheels and tyres only freshly renewed, and black pvc trim also good. The engine is reportedly in excellent shape and both transmission and electrical equipment in good order. The car has only just been successfully MOT-tested so the latest certificate will be valid until May of next year and the tax-exempt disc current until next April.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
