Sat 20th & Sun 21st June 2020  »  1957 Austin Healey 100/6 BN4

Auction description:

1957 Austin Healey 100/6 BN4

Lot Number:

Estimate: £32,000 - 36,000

V5 Present

MoT Exempt

Chassis number: BN4051388

Manufactured in the UK in 1957, this Austin Healey was exported to South Africa the same year when it was CKD (completely knocked down) and reassembled. It was returned to the UK in 1997 and purchased by the vendor the following year. Since then, it has covered around 18,500 miles and was subject to partial restoration in 2008, undertaken by Murray Scott‑Nelson. The vendor advises that the car has been garaged throughout his ownership. The history file includes Heritage Trust letter dated 1997, restoration estimate, copy export documents, most MoTs dating from 1997 to 2014 when last issued and various bills. The mileage is recorded at 102,473.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
