Auction description:
4 Speed Manual

Vin BN6L2442
Lot Number 170

1959 AUSTIN HEALEY 100-6 (BN-6)
This terrific and recently restored 2 seat 100-6 was once owned by the master of the “barn find” Tom Cotter. The current owner purchased it from Mr. Cotter. Under Cotter's ownership the car was fully restored. The Healy was upgraded to disc brakes, new chrome, and a smaller steering wheel was put in for us larger Americans. Since, restoration it has only gone 383 miles.
She is powered by a 2.6 liter BMC C-series in line 6 making 117 horses. The power goes through a 4 speed with overdrive. This great drop head coupe (convertible to us Yanks) is decked out a marvelous 2 tone black/red combination with an interior of black leather.
The fifties was the hay day of the British sports car in America. Don't pass up this legend.

This 1959 Austin-Healey 100-6 is a two-seat BN6 roadster that is finished in two-tone black and red over a black interior and is powered by a 2.6-liter inline-six linked to a four-speed manual gearbox with overdrive. The car was reportedly purchased in 1990 by the prior owner and subsequently refurbished before being acquired by the current owner in 2014. Features include a Lecarra steering wheel, a heater, front driving lights, and chrome bumpers with overriders. This BN6 is now offered on dealer consignment in North Carolina with a spare tire, black soft top, side curtains, and transferable Vermont registration.

The car was refinished in two-tone black and red during the refurbishment completed during prior ownership. The 100-6 featured a fixed windscreen, and additional equipment includes windscreen wipers, chrome bumpers with overriders, front driving lights, fender-mounted rearview mirrors, and twin exhaust outlets.

Chrome-finished wire wheels wear two-eared knock-offs and are mounted with Michelin tires. The suspension and underside components are said to have been refurbished, and the front brakes have been converted to discs, while drums remain out back.

The interior was reportedly replaced during the refurbishment and features black upholstery with red piping on the seats as well as a black dash, carpets, and door panels. Amenities include a dash-mounted rearview mirror, a heater, a center armrest, and lap belts. A covered spare tire is stored on a parcel shelf behind the seats.

The wood-rimmed Lecarra steering wheel frames Smiths instrumentation including a 120-mph speedometer, a 6k-rpm tachometer, and auxiliary gauges monitoring oil pressure, water temperature, and fuel level. The five-digit odometer shows 2k miles, approximately 400 of which were added by the current owner. True mileage is unknown.

The 2.6-liter inline-six features twin SU carburetors. The engine was reportedly rebuilt as part of the aforementioned refurbishment, and an oil change was performed in Spring 2020. The selling dealer notes an oil leak from the rear main seal and valve cover gaskets.

Power is sent to the rear wheels via a four-speed manual gearbox with overdrive.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
