Rust-free California car that had a period V-8 conversion. Driver quality restoration and color change in the mid 1990's. Car was converted back to a Healey BJ8 motor during restoration but is not the original engine or transmission the car left the factory with.

This car has a unique "batch" number stamped on the body plate and confirmed by the BMIHT certificate. Out of over 2000 cars for which both batch and body numbers are recorded in the BJ8 registry, no other has been found with a batch number of 4188. I would like to know the current engine and gearbox number because I can use that to determine which car(s) they came from originally.,

An update to my comment of 2011-02-03 (apparently it isn't possible to simply revise a previous comment?): The number of BJ8s in the BJ8 Registry for which a batch/body combination is known is now 2550. This car still remains unique in that its batch number is 4188, whereas all other cars so far identified have batch numbers beginning with 3. I would very much like to see a photo of the body plate for this car.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
