This 1964 Austin-Healey 3000 BJ8 Mk III was originally delivered to Vancouver, British Columbia and was discovered over 20 years ago in a field by the seller, who subsequently commissioned a mechanical and cosmetic refurbishment. It is finished in light blue with a black soft top over a black interior and is powered by a 3.0-liter inline-six paired with a four-speed manual transmission with overdrive. This 3000 BJ8 is now offered with a British Motor Industry Heritage Trust certificate and clean Alberta registration listing it as a 1965 model.
Delivered from the factory in British Racing Green, the car was repainted light blue during the refurbishment. It is equipped with chrome bumpers and a black retractable soft top.
15” chrome wire wheels wear steel-belted radial tires. Corrosion is noted on the rear suspension springs.
The interior is trimmed in black leather with matching carpets and door panels. The sale includes a tonneau cover.
The wood dashboard houses Smiths gauges, and the fuel-level gauge light bulb was replaced in July 2019. The five-digit odometer shows 3k miles, 600 of which were added by the seller. True mileage is unknown.
The 3.0-liter inline-six is mated to a four-speed manual transmission with overdrive. Work performed in July 2019 is said to have included the installation of a replacement fuel pump and a battery. The oil pan is dented, and an oil leak is noted where the engine meets the transmission. The frame is dented next to the oil pan.
The British Motor Industry Heritage Trust certificate shows that the car was despatched to Vancouver, Canada on July 20, 1964. A driver’s handbook is included in the sale.
