This 1967 Austin-Healey 3000 BJ8 Mk III is finished in red over black leather and vinyl, and it is powered by a 2.9-liter inline-six paired with a four-speed manual transmission. Features include 15″ chrome wire wheels, PerTronix electronic ignition, and a replacement black soft top. The car was purchased by the seller from his friend in 2008, and subsequent service is said to include reupholstery of the interior and overhauls of the carburetors as well as the cooling, fuel, hydraulic, and brake systems. This BJ8 is now offered with recent service records, a parts catalog, a soft top boot, and a clean Minnesota title in the seller’s name.
The exterior is finished in red and is said to have been repainted during prior ownership. Replacement chrome bumpers were installed by the seller, who repaired rust on the passenger door and fitted a replacement soft top that is shown in its raised position below and in the gallery. A matching top boot is included in the sale.
Replacement 15″ chrome-finished knockoff wire wheels wear 165/80 Kumho Power Star 758 tires. During current ownership the brakes were overhauled, and the seller states that the brake booster has been removed and bypassed.
The seats were re-stuffed and reupholstered in black vinyl with perforated leather inserts and red piping, and sound insulation material was installed under the replacement carpet, behind the door panels, and under the trunk liner. Equipment includes a banjo-spoke steering wheel, front lap belts, a push-button radio, a lockable glove box, and an inoperable cabin heater.
The refurbished dashboard is accented by burl wood veneer, and instrumentation includes a 140-mph speedometer and a 7k-rpm tachometer. The five-digit odometer shows just under 30k miles, and total mileage is unknown.
The 2.9-liter inline-six sends power to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission. During current ownership the dual SU carburetors were rebuilt, PerTronix electronic ignition was installed, and the wiring harness, water pump, radiator, fuel tank, and hydraulic cylinders were replaced. The seller states annual oil changes were performed.
Rust on the passenger-side floor pan was repaired with fiberglass.
The car is supplied with recent service records, parts receipts, and a parts catalog. Refurbishment photos are included.
