This 1967 Austin-Healey 3000 BJ8 Mk III is powered by a 2.9-liter inline-six mated to a four-speed manual gearbox with overdrive, and was refinished in red over black under previous ownership in 2001. The refurbishment also included installation of a replacement convertible top and a stainless steel exhaust system as well as cosmetic and mechanical detail work throughout. This BJ8 was acquired by the seller in 2016 and is now offered with a tonneau cover, a top boot, a driver’s handbook, refurbishment records, and a clean Florida title in the seller’s name.
The car was repainted in red by Von’s Austin Healey Restoration and Repairs of South Carolina in 2001. The black soft top, seals, and weatherstripping were also replaced as part the refurbishment. A tonneau cover and top boot are included in the sale.
Chrome 15″ knock-off wire wheels wear Vredestein Sprint Classic tires measuring 185/HR15 all around. A conversion to accommodate conventional brake fluid was performed during the 2001 work, and the sway bar end links and bushings were replaced.
The interior was reupholstered in black vinyl over replacement seat foam with a matching dash pad, door panels, and carpets. Features include burl wood dash panels, a heater, and an Alpine CD player installed near the shifter. Replacement anti-rattle devices were added for each window in 2001.
A wood-rimmed Lecarra steering wheel frames Smiths instrumentation including a 140-mph speedometer, a tachometer, and a five-digit odometer showing 35k miles. Approximately 1,500 miles have been added under current ownership, and total mileage is unknown.
A stainless steel exhaust system was installed in 2001 along with a negative-ground electrical conversion with an alternator. More recent service consisted of a tune-up approximately six months ago. The seller notes that the carburetors will dry out if the engine has not been started for an extended period of time.
A driver’s handbook and records from the 2001 refurbishment are included in the sale.
