This 1966 Austin-Healey 3000 BJ8 Mk III is a 2+2 roadster that was acquired by the current owner in 2002 and subsequently refurbished. Work included sheet metal repair and a repaint in Healy Blue and white as well as a refresh of the blue leather interior. Power is from a rebuilt 2.9-liter inline-six paired with a four-speed manual transmission with overdrive, and features include a blue soft top, 15″ knock-off wire wheels, front disc brakes, Bilstein shocks, a wood dashboard, and an adjustable steering column. The fluids were changed in September 2021. This 3000 BJ8 Mk III is now offered on dealer consignment with service records, refurbishment photos, a British Motor Industry Heritage Trust certificate, and a clean Oregon title.
The body panels were removed and stripped before rust and dent repair was carried out. The car was then repainted in Healy Blue and white. Equipment includes a blue soft top, 3/4-vent windows, chrome bumpers and trim, and dual exhaust outlets.
Chrome 15″ wire wheels are mounted with two-eared knockoffs and wear Vredestein Sprint Classic tires. A spare wheel and tire are housed in the trunk. The suspension was overhauled during the refurbishment and fitted with Bilstein shocks. Braking is handled by front discs and rear drums.
The 2+2 cockpit was refreshed during the refurbishment and features blue leather upholstery and a refinished wood dashboard. Features include roll-up side windows, a dash-mounted rearview mirror, bright trim, a wooden shift knob, and Austin-Healey–branded rubber floor mats.
The wood-rimmed steering wheel fronts Smiths instrumentation consisting of a 140-mph speedometer, a tachometer with a 5,500-rpm redline, and auxiliary gauges. The five-digit odometer shows 29k miles. True mileage is unknown.
The 2.9-liter inline-six was also overhauled during the refurbishment and is equipped with dual SU carburetors. The fluids were changed in September 2021.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission and a Laycock overdrive unit.
The BMIHT certificate lists factory colors, component serial numbers, factory-fitted equipment, and dispatch to a dealership in Kenosha, Wisconsin in March 1966.
