This 1967 Austin-Healey 3000 BJ8 Mk III is a non-running project that was purchased by the seller in 1986. The car reportedly was driven for two years after the seller’s acquisition and thereafter was the recipient of a partial refurbishment in the late 1980s that consisted of bodywork and structural repairs as well as an engine rebuild. Primer-finished fenders are accompanied by green doors, a black hood, and a red trunk lid. Features include a black convertible soft top, a 2.9-liter inline-six, a four-speed manual transmission with overdrive, 14″ wire wheels, uninstalled chrome bumpers and trim, and black upholstery. This Austin-Healey project is now offered with refurbishment records from the 1980s and 1990s, spare and removed parts, a workshop manual, and a clean New Jersey title in the seller’s name.

A refurbishment initiated in the late 1980s included repairs and replacement of bodywork carried out by Healey Surgeons of Takoma Park, Maryland. The car currently has primer-finished fenders, green doors, a black hood, and a red-primer trunk lid. The black convertible soft top is shown disassembled from its frame, as are the removed bumpers, miscellaneous trim pieces, and a luggage rack that are included in the sale.

15″ wire wheels with knock-off hubs are mounted with mismatched tires that are said to be in need of replacement.

Some body panels and interior components were placed on/in the car for photography purposes, but they are not securely attached.

Front and rear seating is upholstered in black, while the carpeting and door panels have been removed. The wood dashboard trim shows cracks.

A banjo-style steering wheel is accompanied by Smiths instrumentation that includes a 140-mph speedometer, a tachometer, and auxiliary gauges. The five-digit odometer indicates 91k miles, and true chassis mileage is unknown.

The 2.9-liter inline-six is fitted with twin SU carburetors and a green-finished valve cover. The engine was rebuilt in 1988 by Turner’s of Califon in New Jersey, and the seller states that it currently does not run.

The four-speed manual transmission is complemented by an overdrive unit. Rust on the drivetrain components and frame as well as fluid seepage from the differential.

Spare components, removed parts, and accessories included in the sale are documented.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
