Seller's description:
1967 Austin Healey 3000 Mark III BJ8 $85,000.00
MotorCarTrader.com is thrilled to offer this beautiful and rare 1967 Austin Healey 3000 Mark III BJ8. This great car is one of 553 cars originally painted Metallic Golden Beige. Also, it is a late production and true 1967 production car which was the last year for these vehicles. There are several of these cars that were produced in 1966, but are titled as 1967 cars. In addition, this gorgeous Austin Healey was an original California delivery car. The car presented here was built between April 13-19 of 1967 and the date of dispatch was May 3rd of 1967 to a dealer in San Francisco, CA. The original owner Mr. Franklin of Richmond, CA took delivery of the car on July 14 of 1967. We do have the original owner’s plate which does go with the car. Also, we do have the Heritage Certificate to confirm authenticity and all numbers match (even the original key number matches the certificate).
This car is in excellent overall condition. The car has benefited from a very nice and very well restoration on a great original car. This Healey runs and drives excellent. It has great compression across all 6 cylinders (130 to 135 psi) and great oil pressure (40 pounds when warm at idle). The car does go through the gears perfectly with no noises in any of the gears and the overdrive works nicely and the clutch feels great. Furthermore, the overall feel driving the car is very tight and solid. Certainly, this is one of the nicer and more pleasant Healeys to drive.
Some of the more recent work includes a new stainless steel exhaust system and a new burlwood dash. Also this car has new 60 spoke chrome wire wheels to go with the newer correct Hex knock offs. In addition, the carburetors have been fully rebuilt and set up. This Healey has a new boot cover and full tonneau cover with the original tonneau support bar. The vehicle has been recently serviced and everything is working as it should.
Overall this is an exceptional Austin Healey with excellent fit, beautiful overall condition and truly stunning original color. There are Healeys that have achieved record prices in this color, but they were not originally this color or the correct color for that year. In addition, this is an original California car, which makes it even more collectible. Also, very desirable is the very rare original color and late production 1967 Austin Healey, as that was the last year for these great cars. This is a gorgeous example that can be taken to a few shows or driven anywhere to provide for miles of enjoyment. This Austin Healey is truly a great investment car.
