This 1960 Austin-Healey 3000 Mk I is a BN7 two-seat model that is said to have been acquired by the seller’s father-in-law out of California in 1985, then relocated from Oregon to Illinois in 2012 when ownership passed to the seller and their spouse. The car is finished in red over black leather upholstery and powered by a 2.9-liter OHV inline-six paired with a four-speed manual transmission with overdrive. Equipment includes a black soft top and tonneau cover, a chrome luggage rack, dual SU carburetors, front disc brakes, wire-spoke 15″ knock-off wheels, and a heater. This 3000 BN7 is now offered with a British Motor Industry Heritage Trust report, partial service records, assorted literature, a pair of side curtains, a car cover, spare parts, and a clean Illinois title in the names of the seller and their spouse.
The car was finished from the factory in Colorado Red and features a black soft top as well as chrome bumpers with overriders. Additional exterior features include dual fender-mounted mirrors, chrome trim, a radio antenna, a rear luggage rack, and dual exhaust outlets. A tonneau cover and a pair of side curtains are included in the sale. Close-up photos showing chips and blemishes in the finish.
Silver-finished 15″ wire-spoke wheels are secured with chrome knock-off nuts and wear 165-series Michelin XZX tires, while a spare is secured in the trunk. Braking is supplied by Girling front discs and rear drums.
The interior features bucket seats reupholstered in red-piped black leather, joined by a matching center armrest and replacement black carpeting. Appointments include a heater, a dashboard-mounted rearview mirror, a passenger grab handle, and lap belts. Scuffs and blemishes are in the upholstery, and the seller reports an inoperable driver-side interior door handle.
An adjustable-reach banjo-spoke steering wheel is mounted ahead of Smiths instrumentation consisting of a 120-mph speedometer, a 6k-rpm tachometer, and gauges for oil pressure, coolant temperature, and fuel level. The five-digit odometer shows 37k miles, approximately 1,300 of which were driven under current ownership.
The 2.9-liter OHV inline-six features a pair of SU carburetors. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission fitted with an optional electrically-operated overdrive gearbox.
Additional underside images are provided in the gallery below.
The British Motor Industry Heritage Trust report lists factory colors, equipment, and build dates of February 25-26, 1960.

This rock solid example of a rare BN7 is as nice as pictures reflect. The car comes with a Heritage Certificate and an extensive service file and registrations going back decades. The car hails from the Portland Oregon area, rust and rust history as well as damage history is not an issue on this car. The records indicate an engine rebuild, transmission rebuild, front suspension rebuild as well as a replacement exhaust in 1985. In the 90s the car received regular services ,brakes, clutch, road springs, Texas Cooler, brake hoses.... The car sounds, drives and feels like a well sorted, tight, strong Austin Healey with that magical BIG Healey audio exhaust note.
