This 1960 Austin-Healey 3000 Mk I is a left-hand drive 2+2 example that was purchased by its owner in the late 1980s in Vermont and brought to Wisconsin, where it underwent a cosmetic and mechanical refurbishment. Finished in Primrose over black leather with a black soft top, the car is powered by a 2,912cc inline-six paired with a four-speed manual transmission with overdrive. This Mark I BT7 is now offered by the selling dealer on behalf of the owner’s estate with side screens, a tonneau cover, a knock-off hammer, and a clean Wisconsin title.

A refurbishment was performed between 1987 and 1989, during which the body was reportedly stripped to bare metal before receiving a color change to Austin Primrose (IC-261). The finish is said to show signs of age, and various chips and other imperfections can be seen in closeups. Exterior brightwork was also refinished during the refurbishment.

15” painted wire wheels feature chrome knock-offs and wear Vredestain Sprint Plus S80 tires, which are said to require replacement due to dry rot from age. A black soft top is equipped and can be seen in the raised position in the gallery below, and detachable side screens with sliding Perspex windows are also included.

The interior features 2+2 seating trimmed in black leather with matching carpeting and door panels. Equipment includes a wood-rimmed banjo steering wheel and an optional heater with controls situated in the dash.

Smiths instrumentation includes a 120-mph speedometer and a 6k-rpm tachometer. The five-digit odometer shows just over 2k miles and is said to reflect mileage added during current ownership.

The 2,912cc BMC C-Series inline-six features twin SU carburetors and is paired with a four-speed manual transmission, which features an electric overdrive that is believed to be a later addition. The powertrain and other mechanical components were reportedly rebuilt during the 1980s refurbishment, and electrical work at that time included installing a new wiring harness. A safety inspection was reportedly performed by the selling dealer in preparation for the sale.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
