This 1955 Austin-Healey 100 BN1 roadster is said to have been refurbished by Ron Stone of Corvettes and Collectables in 2011, and it was recently acquired by the selling dealer. The car is finished in Ice Blue over blue leather upholstery and is powered by a 2.7-liter inline-four paired with a three-speed manual transmission with overdrive. Equipment includes a retractable soft top, 15″ wire wheels, and a wood-rimmed steering wheel. Work performed during the refurbishment is said to have included overhauling the engine, installing an electronic ignition system and fuel pump, and replacement of the head gasket, fuel tank, and wiring loom. This BN1 roadster is offered by the selling dealer in New York with a tonneau cover, a British Motor Industry Heritage Trust certificate, and Connecticut registration.
The car was refinished in Ice Blue under previous ownership and features BN2-style front fenders. Equipment includes a blue soft top, chrome-finished bumpers and trim, an adjustable windshield, and a single exhaust outlet. The finish and trim can be viewed up close in the gallery below. A tonneau cover is included in the sale.
Chrome 15″ wire wheels feature two-eared knock-off hubs and wear Federal Super Steel 657 tires. Stopping power is provided by drum brakes all around.
The cabin features low-back bucket seats trimmed in replacement blue leather with white piping joined by color-coordinated carpets and door panels. Equipment includes a dash-mounted rearview mirror, a passenger-side grab handle, a central ashtray, and a wood-rimmed steering wheel.
Smiths instrumentation consists of a 120-mph speedometer, a 6k-rpm tachometer, and gauges for oil pressure, water temperature, and fuel level. The five-digit odometer displays 415 miles, and true mileage is unknown.
The 2.7-liter inline-four was reportedly overhauled in 2008 with a balanced rotating assembly, a rebuilt cylinder head, and replacement pistons, rod bearings, pushrods, lifters, fuel lines, rear main seal, and wiring loom. Additional work reportedly included the installation of an upgraded head gasket, an electronic ignition system and fuel pump, an aluminum fuel tank, braided stainless steel fuel lines, and a spin-on oil filter assembly.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a three-speed manual transmission with overdrive.
Engine stamping 226364 is shown above and matches the number listed on the BMIHT certificate.
The British Motor Industry Heritage Trust certificate shows factory colors, serial numbers, and a build date of June 16, 1955.
The car does not have a title, as it is registered in a state that does not issue titles for a vehicle of its age. It is being sold on its registration.
