This 1955 Austin-Healey 100 BN1 is a left-hand-drive roadster that is said to have been previously registered in North Carolina before being acquired by the current owner in 2008 and relocated to New York. The car is finished in red over black upholstery and is powered by a 2.7-liter inline-four mated to a three-speed manual transmission with overdrive. Equipment includes a black soft top, 15″ knock-off wire wheels, a tilting windscreen, twin SU carburetors, and chrome bumpers with overriders. This BN1 roadster is now offered by the seller on behalf of the current owner with a tonneau cover, side curtains, and a New York registration in the owner’s name.
The car is finished in red and is said to have been refinished under previous ownership. Exterior features include a black soft top, chrome bumpers with overriders, a fender-mounted mirror, and a tilting windscreen. The seller notes that the front crossmember was replaced in 2009.
Chrome-finished 15″ knock-off wire wheels are mounted with 165-series Michelin XZX tires. The car is equipped with independent front suspension, a live rear axle, and four-wheel hydraulic drum brakes.
The cabin features low-back bucket seats trimmed in black with red piping that extends to the transmission tunnel cover. Equipment includes black carpets, a dash-mounted rearview mirror, lap belts, and a passenger-side grab handle. There is a blemish on the driver’s seat-bottom upholstery and stains on the underside of the soft top.
The banjo-style steering wheel has cracks on the outer rim and fronts Smiths instrumentation that includes a 120-mph speedometer, a tachometer, and auxiliary gauges. The five-digit mechanical odometer shows 58k miles, approximately 1,100 of which were added under current ownership. True mileage is unknown.
The 2.7-liter inline-four is equipped with twin SU carburetors and a polished valve cover. A Pertronix electronic ignition was installed in June 2022.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a three-speed manual transmission with overdrive on second and third gears. Corrosion is visible on underside components.
The replacement chassis tag located in the footwell and the New York registration lists the VIN as BN1L219342.
The car does not have a title, as it is being sold in a state that does not issue titles for a vehicle of its age. It is being sold on its transferable New York registration.
