For sale on e-bay: cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/

Jacksonville, Florida

1955 Austin Healey.100/4. The car has undergone a frame off restoration a few years back. The car has been used sparingly since, and is still in excellent condition.

Built in December of 1954. Finished in Carmine Red with black trim, the paint is still in superb condition. There is no sign the car has ever had accident or rust damage. The frame is solid as is the floors and trunk area. The interior of the car is black with red piping. Mecanically the car is excellent. It runs and drives very well. The interior is excellent, a beautiful dash, perfect seats and carpet. All gauges work as they should. Chrome wire wheels are fitted with new tires. Records go back a far as service from Frank Monise Motors in Pasadena, California. The car is also supplied with side curtains, spare tire, and softtop.

This 1955 Austin-Healey 100 BN1 roadster was built in December 1954 and delivered to a dealership in Düsseldorf, Germany. The car made its way to the United States in the ensuing years, and a refurbishment was conducted circa 2010 before the seller bought the vehicle out of Florida in 2014. Finished in red and black over black leather upholstery with red piping, the roadster is powered by a 2.7-liter inline-four paired with a BN2 four-speed manual transmission with overdrive. Equipment includes MWS 15″ wire wheels, dual SU carburetors, fender-mounted mirrors, lap belts, a banjo-style steering wheel, a red tonneau cover, a red soft top, and removable side curtains. The brakes were flushed and the voltage regulator was adjusted in June 2026. This Healey is now offered with a British Motor Industry Heritage Trust certificate, an owner’s handbook, a service manual, records from current ownership, trophies and awards, and an Ohio title under the seller’s trust.

Finished from the factory in Carmine Red, the car was repainted in BN2-style two-tone red and black in the mid-2000s, according to the seller. Exterior features include fender-mounted side mirrors, an adjustable-rake windscreen, external trunk hinges, bright trim, a single exhaust outlet, and chrome bumpers with overriders. Chipped paint and other imperfections are present.

The replacement red soft top has shrunk to the point that it cannot be secured, the seller tells us. A matching tonneau cover and side curtains are included in the sale, as shown in the gallery.

Chrome-finished Motor Wheel Service 15″ wire wheels are mounted with 165HR15 Vredestein Sprint Classic tires that were replaced in 2014. Braking is handled by drums at each corner, and the hydraulic system was flushed in June 2026.

The bucket seats have been reupholstered in black leather with red piping. Interior appointments include a black metal dashboard, a passenger-side grab handle, a heater, a center armrest, lap belts, door-panel pockets, and black carpeting. Scuffs on the seatbacks are present.

The banjo-style steering wheel frames Smiths instrumentation housed in a bright surround and consisting of a 120-mph speedometer, a 6k-rpm tachometer, and auxiliary gauges. The five-digit odometer shows 8k miles, approximately 3k of which were added under current ownership. The speedometer was refurbished in 2015 and manually advanced by 2k miles. True mileage is unknown.

The 2.7-liter inline-four featured dual SU carburetors from the factory for a rating of 90 horsepower and 150 lb-ft of torque. The engine reportedly was rebuilt between 2002 and 2008. The cooling system was serviced in 2024, and the oil was changed most recently in June 2026, at which time the voltage regulator was adjusted.

A BN2-sourced four-speed manual transmission has been installed and is complemented by a Laycock de Normanville overdrive unit.

The British Motor Industry Heritage Trust certificate lists selected options and colors, a build date of December 7, 1954, and delivery to A. Brüggemann & Company in Düsseldorf, Germany.

The Ohio title lists a “Non-Actual Warning: Odometer Discrepancy” mileage brand.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
