Originally a USA-delivered car new but in Australia since the 1980s at least, this 1955 Austin Healey 100 BN2 is well travelled here, having been in the hands of owners in South Australia, New South Wales, a well-known Victorian dealer (twice), and most recently Brisbane.

During its current tenure of over 34 years, this Healey has undergone a total body-off restoration which has included rectification work following damage from the 2011 Brisbane floods.

Presented in immaculate condition throughout, now finished in black over red rather than its original white, this ’55 Healey BN2 wears a Le Mans Modification Kit plate and has received some 100M upgrades.

These include the iconic louvered bonnet with leather retaining strap, and a M badge on the grille. The rebuilt 2.6 litre Austin engine is also fitted with a pair of up-sized carburettors and an M spec airbox, while a five speed gearbox replaces the BN2’s regular four-speed.

Wearing a black soft top and chromed wire wheels, both in excellent condition, the Healey is trimmed in red with matching carpets and, again, these show little if any wear.

Being sold with a generous history file that includes restoration photographs, assorted paperwork, and various receipts, it’s a fine example of one of the hobby’s most popular classic sports cars.
