Records From Last Four Years

This 1957 Austin-Healey 100-6 BN4 Roadster is a driver that has been with the seller for four years. Said to have been sourced from New Mexico by the previous owner, the car is believed to have been partially restored sometime in the 1970s with paintwork and an interior refresh. The seller commissioned a rebuild of the 2.6-liter inline-six by noted Healey specialist Leo Ruof, and the 4-speed manual gearbox and electric overdrive unit have also been rebuilt. Additional work performed by the seller included a new clutch, new brake and clutch cylinders, refinished wheels, cleaning of the gas tank, new battery, new electric fuel pump, and a rebuild of the radiator. The car is now offered with records and receipts from the work performed over the last four years, as well as a clean Kentucky title in the seller's name.

The two-tone paintwork is believed to have been redone by a previous owner. Imperfections noted by the seller include a dent in one of the headlight rings, some pitting in the chrome of the windscreen, and some scuffs in the finish that are presently covered by the Esso stickers. Two pinholes of rust are noted in the trunk, and one outrigger has been replaced due to wear according to the seller. The straight exhaust currently exits just aft of the driver-side front wheel though a pair of Lamborghini resonators, and the factory setup is included in the sale.

The soft top shows some haze in the rear window and appears to fit fairly well, though the seller has never driven the car in the rain. Two small tears are noted on the front corners where the latches have poked through the canvas. Wire wheels were recently sandblasted and painted by the seller. They have also been fitted with new tubes, tires, and knockoff lugs. The trafficator rod remains uninstalled. Signaling is currently handled though clamp-on lamps and switches fitted by the seller.

Seat upholstery is believed to have been redone by a previous owner, while the carpets were recently fitted by the seller over a layer of insulation that help keep heat and noise in the cabin at bay.

A set of aftermarket gauges monitor oil pressure, water temperature, and amperage. The factory speedometer is presently inoperable, and true mileage is unknown. The headlights, brake lights, and driving lights remain operational, though the seller notes the wiring appears old.

Shortly after his purchase, the seller commissioned rebuilds of the engine, gearbox, and overdrive. Additional work performed by the seller includes a new clutch, new brake and clutch cylinders, new lines and hoses, cleaning of the gas tank, new battery, new electric fuel pump, and a rebuild of the radiator. Aside from a stiff choke cable and some work needed on the brake drums, the car is said to run well with no overheating. The seller has driven it 600 miles during his ownership.

Several photos in the photo gallery highlight the condition of the underside, and several images are included of the engine while it was removed for the rebuild. Receipt for the new parts purchased are included in the sale.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
