This 1957 Austin-Healey 100-6 BN4 four-seat roadster is a running-and-driving project that remained with the same family in Ohio until the selling dealer’s acquisition in 2024. Power comes from a 2.6-liter inline six equipped with dual SU carburetors, and it is backed by a four-speed manual transmission that was rebuilt in the 1990s along with the overdrive unit. The selling dealer notes that corrosion repairs are required, and a collection of patch panels will accompany the car along with the removed grille, front bumper, soft top frame, and trim. This BN4 project is now offered at no reserve with an owner’s handbook, service records dating to the 1990s, and a clean Pennsylvania title.

Initially finished in blue, the car was repainted in red several decades ago. The grille, front bumper assembly, and cockpit moldings have been removed and will accompany the car. Rust is noted in the rocker panels, floors, and chassis outriggers, and deteriorated paint and pitted brightwork around the car is visible.

Silver-finished 15” knock-off wire wheels wear two-eared spinners and are mounted with 165-series Widetrack radial tires. Braking is handled by drums all around.

The 2+2 cabin houses low-back bucket seats and rear jump seats trimmed in black vinyl with white piping as well as a color-coordinated dashboard pad, door panels, and rubber floor mats. The rear seatback is missing, and the carpets have been removed. A rust hole is noted in the left rear footwell, and wear on the interior surfaces is visible.

The banjo-style steering wheel has a damaged and taped rim, and it frames Smiths instrumentation consisting of a 120-mph speedometer, a tachometer, and gauges for oil pressure and fuel level. The coolant temperature gauge does not work. The five-digit odometer shows 56k miles.

The 2.6-liter inline-six is equipped with dual SU carburetors and an ANSA-style exhaust system. The selling dealer that smoke is visible from the exhaust, and thorough service will be required before the car returns to ordinary use.

The four-speed manual transmission and overdrive unit were rebuilt in the 1990s, and the clutch assembly was replaced at that time. Rust is visible on underbody components.

Repair panels are included in the sale along with removed and spare parts, an owner’s handbook, and partial service records.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
