This 1957 Austin-Healey 100-6 is a four-seat BN4 roadster that was acquired by the selling dealer around 2021 as a stalled refurbishment project, and it was subsequently completed. Finished in white and black over black leather upholstery, the car is powered by a replacement 2.6-liter inline-six paired with a four-speed manual transmission with overdrive. Additional equipment includes a removable black soft top, twin SU carburetors, electric power steering, dual exhaust outlets, 15″ knock-off wire wheels, and chrome-finished bumpers with overriders. Work in preparation for the sale reportedly included rebuilding the carburetors along with a tune-up and fluid changes. This 100-6 is now offered by the selling dealer with refurbishment invoices and a clean Oklahoma title.

The bodywork was dismantled and received rust remediation under previous ownership before it was repainted in white and black. The left-front fender, rocker panels, and inner sill assemblies were replaced, and the rear quarter panels were repaired at that time. The selling dealer notes that the exterior trim and removable black soft top were installed under current ownership. Additional exterior details include a hood scoop, dual exhaust outlets, and chrome-finished bumpers with overriders.

Replacement chrome-finished 15” wire wheels are secured by two-eared knock-off spinners and are mounted with 180-series Michelin XAS tires. A full-size spare is housed in the trunk. The four-wheel drum brakes were overhauled during the refurbishment, and an electric power steering system has been installed. Work in 2010 included replacing the front wheel hubs and springs, rebuilding the front shock absorbers, and installing polyurethane suspension bushings.

The interior was installed under current ownership, and it features re-trimmed low-back front bucket seats upholstered in black leather with white piping. The floors are lined with black replacement carpets, and additional details include a dash-mounted rear-view mirror, a passenger-side grab handle, and map pockets in the doors.

A banjo-style steering wheel frames Smiths instrumentation that includes a 120-mph speedometer, a tachometer, and auxiliary gauges. The five-digit odometer shows 500 miles, and the total mileage is unknown. The speedometer and tachometer cables have been replaced.

The replacement 2.6-liter inline-six received a valve job in 2015 and was repainted under previous ownership. It is equipped with dual SU carburetors and PerTronix electronic ignition. The selling dealer states that the carburetors were overhauled in preparation for the sale, and a tune-up and fluid changes were completed at that time.

Power is sent to the rear wheels via a four-speed manual transmission with overdrive that was rebuilt in 2010 by Tom’s Import Toy Sales of Portland, Oregon and fitted with a replacement clutch pressure plate and disc in 2015. The trunk floor and left rear chassis extension were replaced during previous ownership.

The data tag shows car number BN4L038237, which is listed as the VIN on the current Oklahoma title.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
