This 1958 Austin-Healey 100-6 BN4 Roadster is finished in red with white coves over a matching two-tone interior. The car was sold new in Boston, Massachusetts, after the first owner traded in their 1955 Dodge Royal Convertible for $1,359 towards the original $3,389 purchase price. It was acquired in 1992 by the current owner, who performed a 10-year restoration that was completed in 2002. Power comes from a rebuilt later-model 2.9-liter inline-six mated to the original refurbished 4-speed manual gearbox with overdrive, and approximately 11k miles have been added since the work was completed. A new set of Dunlop tires have been installed within the past two years, and a major service was performed in July 2018. This 100-6 is now being offered by a friend of the current owner with the uninstalled numbers-matching engine, original sales documentation, parts and service manuals, receipts from the restoration, a BMIHT certificate, and a clear Louisiana title.

During the 10 year restoration, the body was reportedly fully disassembled and stripped to bare metal. Metal replacement for rust repair was required for sections of the inner rocker panels, floor pans, trunk floor, and inner fenders. The original finish was reportedly Colorado Red, though the seller opted to add the white coves. There is a slight crease on the left front fender, which occurred after the 1990s restoration was completed.

The 72-spoke chrome wire wheels wear 2-year-old Dunlop Sport 5000 tires, and the front brakes have been converted to discs with Mk III 3000 components. Both the brake and suspension systems were overhauled during the restoration, and new front brake hoses have been installed within the past year.

New Oyster White upholstery was installed during the 1990s refurbishment along with red carpets and piping. Noted interior imperfections include slight wear and minor stains on the seats and a very slight yellowing along the trailing edge of the dash cap. Two yards of matching Oyster White vinyl are included with the sale. The instruments, gauges, switches, and lights are reported to work as intended. 55k miles were reportedly shown on the 5-digit odometer at the time of restoration when the Nisonger Instruments rebuilt the gauges. Approximately 11k miles have been added since, and 66k are currently shown.

The non-original 2.9-liter C-series inline-six originated in a Mk III 3000 and received a rebuild at BMC Restorations prior to being installed. Induction is through a pair of SU HD6 carburetors, as original for the 100-6 and Mk I 3000. An electronic ignition has been added, along with a stainless exhaust, and a new cloth covered wiring harness.

A copy of the sales invoice showing the trade-in and delivery date has been retained, along with the original Austin-Healey warranty certificate.

A factory Service Manual, Owner's Handbook, and Parts List also accompany the sale, as well a few original sales brochures from 1958.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
