Car was at auction 12/09
www.brightwells.com/3rdparty/orphanspress/classiccars/viewdetails.php

Auction description:
Lot number 86
Hammer value £9,800
Description Austin-Healey 100/6
Registration 648 UXL
Year 1959
Colour Green
Engine size 2,639 cc
Chassis No. BN4L-0/75960
Engine No. 26D/RV/A75960

Dating from the last year of production, this particular 100/6 was supplied new to America, as were the vast majority of these cars. The vendor states that: “I have owned and used this vehicle for the last 12 years. It is left-hand drive having been imported from the USA in 1991 and has had one UK owner before me. In my ownership it has had work done to the gearbox, brakes and some welding underneath. It has wire wheels, a new exhaust, a fibreglass hardtop, sidescreens and working overdrive. It is generally sound and in good condition having had four new wings and paint within the last two years. It is MOTd until August 2010 and taxed until next July and is ready for immediate use.”

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
