Auction description:
Sale 19289 - Goodwood Revival, Collectors' Motor Cars and Automobilia, 16 Sep 2011
Chichester, Goodwood
Lot No: 205
1958 Austin-Healey 100/6 BN4 Roadster
Registration no. YKF 334
Chassis no. BN4/5/58182
Engine no. 26D-U-H/58182
Sold for £17,825 inclusive of Buyer's Premium
A desirable overdrive-equipped model, the previous owner had owned this 100/6 for the past eight years, enjoying continental motoring. Converted to unleaded compatibility two years ago, the engine has been rebuilt at a cost of £3,500 and has yet to be run in. Other noteworthy features include a newly re-sprayed bonnet, new windscreen, discreet cigarette lighter socket and a battery isolator switch.
The car comes with all necessary parts to effect a restoration of the electrics (wiring loom, fuel pump, ignition coil, distributor cap, spark plugs and points) and has fibreglass rear wings. The present owner has undertaken further work at a cost of c.£2,500 paying attention to inner sill work; cooling system; suspension; electrics and general tidying up. The net result is a tidy example that can be further improved but has a fresh MoT and is ready to be used and enjoyed.
Previously featured in Classic Car magazine, 'YKF 334' is offered with workshop manual, a folder of bills, heritage certificate, aforementioned MoT, and Swansea V5.
