Auction description:
1958 Austin Healey Works Supported Competition
Registration no: DG95
Chassis no: BN6-974

DG 95 was one of several 100/6s and 3000s successfully campaigned by capable privateer entrants. First registered in July 1958, it was subsequently modified to works full 3000 rally specification, including fitment of the 2,912cc engine, in which guise well known privateer Don Grimshaw finished in 31st place on the 1962 Monte Carlo Rally. The following year national events such as the Yorkshire Rally were entered before in 1965 DG 95 ran in no less than four major international rallies - the Monte Carlo, the Geneva, the East African Safari and the Spa-Sofia-Liege.

Finished in the works colours of red with a white hardtop and the subject of a body and mechanical overhaul over 2005/'06, DG 95 is offered in very good and competition-ready condition. Complete with a small history file containing its 1970s logbook, V5 registration document, assorted invoices and copies of period newspaper cuttings and photographs relating to the car, this Big Healey, with its confirmed provenance and fine rallying pedigree, is arguably the closest one can get to a genuine 1950s/1960s works car. As such it would be an ideal and competitive sports car eligible for numerous historic race and rally events throughout Europe.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
