The seller, a classic car dealer in Medina, Ohio, is offering a 1959 Austin-Healey 100-6 two-seat roadster that he indicates had come from one-family ownership and had received a “body-off, nut-and-bolt” restoration. It is described as a low-mileage vehicle, and the miles shown were reported for the title. No other documentation is offered on the car’s history. This is the BN6 version, which signifies a two-seat roadster. This became the rarer of the two versions offered.
The Austin-Healey, a true icon in British sports car history, was upgraded to the 100-6 model in 1956 when the 100-4 model’s Austin inline-four was replaced with the Austin C-series inline-six. The car’s frame gained two inches in wheelbase to allow a semi-usable back seat for kids, though this later was made optional. The car was also restyled for that transition, replacing the diamond-shape grille with an oval design, adding an air scoop to the hood, and eliminating the fold-down feature on the windshield. Inside, the sports car now had the instrument panel in front of the driver rather than in the center of the dash. The 1957-1959 models got a 15 horsepower bump from a revised cylinder head and intake.
This 1959 Austin-Healey 100-6 comes from one-family ownership.
The car has been fully restored.
The work appears very good in the provided photos.
The car has its original engine, per the seller.
A 2.6-liter OHV inline-six is fitted.
With twin SU carburetors, the inline-six was rated at 117 hp when new.
The miles shown are said to be original.
Photos show the underside looking as good as the body.
The paint and chrome show no obvious defects in the photos.
The engine compartment appears like-new.
The interior is likewise fully restored and appears like-new.
The English tan leather interior with red piping adds an elegant touch.
COMES WITH
The car comes with a tonneau cover, as seen in photos.
A new soft top and frame is included with the sale.
NEEDS
According to the seller, the Austin-Healey has no current needs.
