Lot #160009
This 1959 Austin-Healey 100-6 BN6 roadster is said to have been refurbished and modified by SCCA champion Robert Gelles around 2008, and it has a Ford-sourced 289ci V8, four-speed manual transmission, and 9″ rear end. Finished in blue and white over black leather upholstery, the car is equipped with steel wheels, baby-moon hubcaps, a Holley carburetor, dual exhaust, an aftermarket tachometer, and a heater. This 100-6 was acquired by the selling dealer in 2024 and is now offered in Maryland with a clean Illinois title.
The car has been repainted in blue and white, and it features a hood scoop and chrome bumpers with overriders. The vehicle lacks a convertible top. The seller notes imperfections in the paint.
Steel 15″ wheels are clad in chrome “baby-moon” hubcaps and trim rings, and Grand Spirit Aqua Flow GTX tires measure 185/65. Braking is handled by drums at each corner. The seller states that the front brake shoes and the wheel cylinders were replaced in August 2024.
The bucket seats are said to have been reupholstered in black leather during the aforementioned refurbishment. Interior appointments include a wooden shift knob, a cabin heater, a passenger grab handle, door-panel pockets, and a dash-mounted rearview mirror.
The banjo-style steering wheel frames a 120-mph speedometer, an aftermarket 5k-rpm tachometer, and auxiliary gauges. The five-digit odometer shows 56k miles, approximately 300 of which were added by the selling dealer.
The Ford 289ci V8 reportedly was installed in 2008, and it is augmented by a Holley carburetor and finned valve covers. The oil was changed most recently in August 2024.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a Ford-sourced four-speed manual transmission and a Ford 9″ rear end. The dual exhaust system terminates ahead of each rear wheel.
The car’s chassis number is BN6L2925, whereas the Illinois title cites the sequence BN612925, with a number “1” in place of the letter “L”.
