This 1959 Austin-Healey 100-6 BN6 roadster was purchased by the seller approximately eight years ago, and it has subsequently been refurbished. It wears a repaint in white and black, and the cabin has been reupholstered in black leather with white piping. Additional work included converting the 2.6-liter inline-six to electronic ignition, overhauling the four-speed manual transmission, adding an aluminum radiator, and replacing the rear shocks, convertible top, starter, battery, cooling fan, and various interior and exterior brightwork and trim elements. This 100-6 is now offered with a British Motor Industry Heritage Trust certificate, the owner’s manual, service records, spare parts, a tonneau cover, and a clean Florida title in the seller’s name.

The car wears a repaint in white and black, and chrome parts were replaced, including the door handles, bumpers, and trunk hinges. The car features a replacement black soft top, a hood scoop, and a single exhaust outlet. A tonneau cover included in the sale.

The 15″ silver-finished knock-off wire wheels are mounted with Widetrack Radial tires, and braking is handled by drums at the rear, while disc brakes have been fitted up front. The rear shocks were replaced under current ownership.

The cabin has been reupholstered in black, and the seats feature replacement foam and black leather covers with white piping. Trim panels were also replaced, and Armorgard mats have been fitted in the trunk. The seats have lap belts.

The wood-rimmed steering wheel frames Smiths instrumentation consisting of a 120-mph speedometer, a 6k-rpm tachometer, and auxiliary gauges. The five-digit odometer shows 47k miles, approximately 2k of which were added under current ownership.

The car is powered by a 2.6-liter inline-six that was equipped from the factory with dual SU carburetors, and it has been converted to electronic ignition and an aluminum radiator. The starter and battery have been replaced under current ownership, and an aftermarket cooling fan has been added. Work under current ownership has included fluids services and adjusting the valves.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission that was overhauled under current ownership, a process that included replacing the clutch and slave cylinder. The car is equipped with overdrive. A leak is noted from the transmission drain plug.

The British Motor Industry Heritage Trust Certificate lists factory colors, equipment, and a build date of September 18, 1958. The certificate also lists the engine number.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
