This 1963 Austin-Healey 3000 BJ7 Mk II is a US-market four-seat convertible that was produced in June 1962 and acquired by the seller in 2018 following a refurbishment carried out under previous ownership. The work is said to have included installation of a Jules Enterprise frame as well as a color change to silver with a black top and interior. Power is supplied by a numbers-matching 2,912cc inline-six mated to a four-speed manual gearbox with overdrive. An oil change was completed in July 2019 along with replacement of the steering head, a rear wheel cylinder and axle bearing, the heater control panel, and more. This BJ7 is offered with a British Motor Industry Heritage Trust Certificate, an invoice for the recent work, and a clean Tennessee title in the seller’s name.

Originally Colorado Red, the car is said to have been fitted with a replacement Jules Enterprise frame prior to a color change to its current Chrysler Bright Platinum Metallic (PS4) under previous ownership. Exterior features include chrome bumperettes, dual side mirrors, and a replacement black soft top that can be seen both raised and lowered. The left door is said to have been adjusted under current ownership.

Replacement chrome 15″ wire wheels with two-eared knock-off nuts wear BFGoodrich Advantage T/A tires. The left rear wheel cylinder, right rear axle bearing, and steering wheel control head were replaced by JD’s British Cars of Nashville, Tennessee in July 2019. The spare wheel has also been replaced.

The cockpit is upholstered in black vinyl with a matching dash, door panels, and carpets. The car was optioned from the factory with a heater, a new control panel and cable for which were installed in the July 2019 service. The left window guides were also replaced and both door cards adjusted to remove wrinkles.

Smiths instrumentation is framed by a wood-rimmed steering wheel. The combination oil pressure and coolant temperature gauge was replaced in July 2019, and the fuel tank float was also repaired to provide a more accurate gauge reading. The five-digit odometer shows 64k miles, of which approximately 1,200 have been added by the seller. Total mileage is unknown.

The numbers-matching 2,912cc inline-six is said to have been overhauled under prior ownership, and was factory-rated at 134 horsepower with 167 lb-ft of torque when new. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual gearbox with an electrically-actuated Laycock de Normanville overdrive that can be engaged in third and fourth gears via a dash switch. An oil change was completed as part of the July 2019 service. An Ansa Automotive exhaust system has been installed, and an included service record shows compression test results between 165 psi and 175 psi across all six cylinders.

An identification tag reading 29F-RU-H/510 is riveted to the engine block and matches the number on the Heritage Trust Certificate.

The British Motor Industry Heritage Trust certificate shows that the car was sent to the US on July 4, 1962 in its original colors of Colorado Red over black.
