This 1963 Austin-Healey 3000 Mk II has spent 16 years with the seller, who performed a 2004 refurbishment with the assistance of several members of the Northeast Ohio Austin Healey club. The seller acquired the car in pieces, and subsequent work included a color change, new interior components, rebuilt gauges, and more. The 2.9-liter inline-six was reportedly overhauled under previous ownership and sends power to a 4-speed manual gearbox with overdrive. Modifications include rear disc brakes, a negative ground conversion, and a factory 3.54:1 differential. This Healey is offered with a spare radiator, braided fuel line, stock oil canister, refurbishment photos, and a clean Ohio title in the seller's name.

Originally Healey Blue, the car was stripped and repainted in the metallic green and white scheme seen here. Work included patching of the lower fenders, chassis doglegs, aluminum shrouds, door sills, and rocker panels before refinishing of the frame, body, and underbody. Rubber trim was replaced and chrome items were replaced or refurbished as needed per the seller. The driver-side fender, door, and boot lid were repainted this year due to areas of emerging rust.

The car rides on a set of 48-spoke wheels purchased from Moss Motors in 2014, and a Dennis Welch disc brake conversion kit is fitted. The tan fabric convertible top was sourced from AH Spares in England and the the boot cover from Heritage Upholstery in 2004. The seller points out an original-style aluminum Enots fuel filler cap and cloisonné front fender badge. Grinder marks are noted on isolated areas of the chrome.

The tan leather and vinyl seat cushion and door panel upholstery was sourced from Heritage Upholstery & Trim in Washington State during the 2004 work, while the carpets were replaced this year with cut-pile wool. The seller notes and unattached armrest and wear consistent with 14 years of use.

The dashboard face was recovered in 2004 and the Smiths gauges were rebuilt according to the seller, though they are said to read inaccurately. A new windshield was fitted during the refinishing work along with replacement side glass and a wood-rimmed Moto Lita steering wheel. The odometer displays just under 13k miles, with total mileage unknown.

The 3.0-liter inline-six was reportedly rebuilt under previous ownership, though supporting records are unavailable. Power is routed through a 4-speed manual gearbox with overdrive and a replacement factory 3.54:1 differential. The electrical system has been converted to negative ground, the alternator was recently rebuilt, a new Optima battery, and other modifications include a Texas Kooler radiator fan and spin-on oil filter. The seller changed the transmission and engine oils in 2018.

Frame repairs were reportedly carried out under previous ownership, and the chassis was sprayed with a protective coating during the 2004 refurbishment. Additional underbody photos are provided in the gallery to show the condition of the chassis, axles, brakes, and exhaust.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
