This 1963 Austin-Healey 3000 BJ7 Mk II is a 2+2 convertible that was acquired by the seller and her late husband in 1984. Finished in silver over red upholstery, it is powered by a 2.9-liter inline-six paired with a four-speed manual transmission with overdrive. Equipment includes a black convertible soft top, door-mounted mirrors, front disc brakes, a rear luggage rack, and chrome-finished 15″ knock-off wire wheels. Maintenance in preparation for the sale included a brake service, an oil change, and replacement of a clutch line. This 3000 BJ7 is now offered with an additional set of wheels, assorted spare parts, and a clean Idaho title in the seller’s name.

The exterior was repainted from red to its current shade of silver during the seller’s ownership, and the hood was reinforced around the latches at the same time. Features include a black convertible soft top, chrome-finished bumpers with front overriders, door-mounted mirrors, and a hinged luggage rack. Close-up photos of the paint, lenses, and trim can be viewed in the gallery below.

Chrome-finished 15″ knock-off wire wheels wear 165/80 Classic Radial LL800 tires. Braking is handled by front discs and rear drums, and a brake service was performed in July 2021. The suspension features front coil springs and rear leaf springs.

The cabin features low-back front bucket seats trimmed in red upholstery as well as a black dashboard pad and carpeting. BJ7 models featured dual rear seat bottoms with a shared backrest pad for a 2+2 configuration. Additional equipment includes red lap belts, black rubber floor mats, and an under-dashboard Realistic speaker. The interior door panels are not installed but are included in the sale along with roll-up windows and weather seals.

The banjo-spoke steering wheel frames Smiths instrumentation including a 120-mph speedometer, a tachometer, and gauges for oil pressure, coolant temperature, and fuel level. Additional aftermarket gauges are mounted beneath the left side of the dashboard. The five-digit odometer shows 13k miles, approximately 2k of which were added under current ownership. True mileage is unknown.

The 2.9L C-series inline-six is equipped with twin SU carburetors. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission with an electrically actuated Laycock de Normanville overdrive. Service in July 2021 included an oil change and replacement of a flexible clutch line.

An additional set of wire wheels mounted with tires is included in the sale.

The car is supplied with shop manuals and spare parts

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
