This 1963 Austin-Healey 3000 BJ7 Mk IIA was acquired by the seller as a project in 1981 and was the subject of a nine-year refurbishment that was completed in 2011. The car’s 2.9-liter inline-six was rebuilt and it was refinished in Healey Blue and Ivory White over a reupholstered blue leather interior. Equipment includes a four-speed manual gearbox, overdrive, a blue soft top, 15″ chrome wire wheels, front disc brakes, and a PerTronix ignition. This Austin-Healey is now offered in Bloomsburg, Pennsylvania, with service records, spare parts, a car cover, and a Pennsylvania title in the seller’s name.
The car was crashed and damaged prior to the seller’s acquisition in 1981. During the subsequent refurbishment, sheet metal and a section of the frame were replaced, and the body was stripped, sandblasted, and repainted in its current two-tone scheme of Healey Blue and Ivory White. Features include a blue soft top that was replaced in 2011, a matching top boot, a hood scoop, and chrome bumpers with overriders.
The 15″ chrome wire wheels are secured by two-eared knock-offs and are mounted with 165-series Vredestein tires. The car is equipped with front disc and rear drum brakes, all of which were overhauled during the build along with the front suspension.
The seats were reupholstered in blue leather with white piping and the door panels were trimmed to match. The carpets were also replaced and are covered with Coco Mats. Modifications include a rearview mirror pedestal with an integrated clock as well as USB outlets and a voltmeter.
The wood-rim steering wheel frames Smiths white-dial instrumentation including a 120-mph speedometer, a 6k-rpm tachometer, and auxiliary gauges. The speedometer was rebuilt in February 2012. The five-digit odometer shows 13k miles, all of which were added since the refurbishment. Total chassis mileage is unknown.
The 2.9-liter inline-six was rebuilt during the build and features dual SU HS6 carburetors. Modifications include a PerTronix electronic ignition, a Delco Remy alternator, and a Facet electric fuel pump. An oil change was recently performed.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission with a Laycock de Normanville electric overdrive.
The title carries an Antique Vehicle brand.
