Lot #155619

This 1963 Austin-Healey 3000 BJ7 Mk II is powered by a 2.9-liter inline-six paired with a four-speed manual transmission and is finished in Ivory White over black. Features include a black soft top, 15″ knock-off wire wheels, front disc brakes, a hood scoop, and front bucket seats. The car was reportedly refurbished in 2015 before being acquired by the current owner the following year. This 3000 Mk II is now offered in New Jersey on dealer consignment with a Pennsylvania title.

The car is finished in Ivory White and was repainted during the aforementioned refurbishment following the completion of body work. Equipment includes a replacement folding black soft top, a hood scoop, mesh headlight grilles, and chrome bumpers with overriders.

The 15″ knock-off wire wheels are mounted with 185/70 Vredenstein Sprint Classic tires. Braking is handled by front discs and rear drums.

The 2+2 cabin was refreshed and features bucket seats trimmed in black, and interior appointments include door storage pockets and a passenger-side grab handle.

The banjo-style steering wheel frames Smiths white-dial instrumentation consisting of a 120-mph speedometer, a 6k-rpm tachometer, a fuel-level gauge, and a combination gauge displaying oil pressure and water temperature. The five-digit odometer shows 85k miles, approximately 1,200 of which were added under current ownership.

The 2.9-liter inline-six features dual SU carburetors and was factory rated at 136 horsepower and 167 lb-ft of torque. The seller states that the engine was rebuilt during the refurbishment.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission.

Bid to $30,000, not sold

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
