This 1963 Austin-Healey 3000 BJ7 Mk II was acquired by the prior owner in 1976 and refurbished over the years before being purchased by the seller in 2024. The car is powered by a 2.9-liter inline-six paired with a four-speed manual transmission with overdrive, and it is finished in cream over black. Equipment includes a black soft top, 15″ knock-off wire wheels, front disc brakes, a top boot, a tonneau cover, driving lamps, a cabin heater, and front bucket seats. This 3000 Mk IIA is now offered with the owner’s manual, service records, spare parts, a car cover, and a clean California title in the seller’s name.
The car was repainted in cream around 2017, and photos from the work are viewable in the gallery.. Rear bumperettes from a Sprite and driving lamps have been added, and additional equipment includes a folding black soft top, a top boot, and a tonneau cover.
The 15″ knock-off wire wheels are mounted with 165/80 Federal Super Steel 657 tires. Braking is handled by front discs and rear drums.
The 2+2 cabin features bucket seats that were re-trimmed in black in the mid-2010s, and the dash was reupholstered at that time. Interior appointments include a cabin heater, lap belts, and door storage pockets. The seller notes that the turn signals do not automatically cancel.
The banjo-style steering wheel frames Smiths white-dial instrumentation consisting of a 120-mph speedometer, a 6k-rpm tachometer, a fuel-level gauge, and a combination gauge displaying oil pressure and water temperature. The five-digit odometer shows 80k miles, approximately 600 of which were added under current ownership. The fuel level gauge bounces when driving.
The 2.9-liter inline-six featured dual SU HS6 carburetors from the factory for a rating of 136 horsepower and 167 lb-ft of torque. The engine was reportedly rebuilt in the 1990s and electronic ignition has been added.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission with Laycock de Normanville electric overdrive. The seller states that the differential was rebuilt in the 1990s and the gearbox leaks oil.
