This 1963 Austin-Healey 3000 BJ7 Mk II was completed in January 1963 and was acquired by the selling dealer in 2022, reportedly from its previous owner of 57 years. Finished in red over black upholstery, the car is powered by a 2.9-liter inline-six mated to a four-speed manual transmission with overdrive. Equipment includes a black soft top, a wood-rimmed steering wheel, a heater, dual SU carburetors, front disc brakes, and 15” knock-off wire wheels. This BJ7 Mk II is being offered by the selling dealer at no reserve with a British Motor Industry Heritage Trust certificate, a tonneau cover, service records, and a clean California title.
Finished from the factory in Colorado Red, the car was reportedly repainted some time during previous ownership. Exterior details include a replacement black soft top and removable tonneau cover, along with fender-mounted side mirrors, dual exhaust outlets, and chrome bumpers with overriders. Cracks on the left rear quarter panel are visible.
Chrome 15” knock-off wire wheels are mounted with 195/65 Michelin RainForce MX4 tires, and a full-size spare is found in the trunk. Stopping power is provided by front discs and rear drums.
The cabin houses fixed-back seats trimmed in black upholstery with a color-coordinated dashboard and door panels. Appointments include shoulder belts for the front occupants, a Smiths heater, a wood shift knob, central armrest, and dash-mounted rear-view mirror.
A wood-rimmed steering wheel is mounted to an adjustable steering column and sits ahead of Smiths instrumentation that includes a 120-mph speedometer, a 6k-rpm tachometer, and auxiliary gauges. The five-digit odometer shows approximately 84k miles.
The 2.9-liter inline-six features dual SU carburetors and sends power to the rear wheels via a four-speed manual transmission with an overdrive unit that was reportedly repaired in 2022. Additional work that year is said to have included replacement of the fuel filter, valve cover gaskets, and spark plugs.
Additional underside photos are provided in the gallery below.
The British Motor Industry Heritage Trust certificate shows the factory colors, equipment, and identification numbers as well as a completion window of January 14-15 1963.
