This was an engineer-owner's 7-year passion project to create the ultimate 'Fast Road' version of the Big Healey that looked stock, but had a significant increase in performance and usability compared to the stock version.
Built on a new Killmartin chassis, the Healey features a ported and polished aluminum head with 11:1 CR and later BJ8-style SU 2" HD8 Carburettors producing 180hp. The engine has an alloy flywheel and adapter plate and is mated to a 1985 Toyota Supra sourced 5 speed manual gearbox. A 68L foam filled alloy fuel cell provides greater range and safety. Front brakes feature uprated Healey BJ8 rotors with Fooseway 4 piston front callipers. Wheels are uprated 72spoke and painted. Stainless exhaust. Adjustable shock mounts. High torque starter, Negative earth converted to run with an alternator, Petronix ignition, Lucas Flame Thrower coil etc. etc.
This was a ground up restoration where every nut and bolt, component and assembly was either new or rebuilt to exacting standards. Bills include $CAD body and paint for $75,000, and a total cost exceeding $CAD200,000, not including at least 1,000 hours of the owner's time.
