• The ultimate 'Big Healey'
• Original right-hand drive car delivered new to Australia
• Restored in 2001
• Present family ownership since 2011
• UK registered since 1970

Built in December 1964 at BMC's Abingdon works, chassis number 'H-BJ8/30197' was delivered in January 1965 to its first owner in Bathurst, Australia. The car was originally finished in Healey Blue with matching interior. According to the DVLA, its date of first registration in the UK was 16th January 1970.

The Healey was restored in 2001, the colour scheme being changed to the present Colorado Red over Ivory with red-piped black leather interior. The car also benefits from a lead-free conversion and is fitted with up-rated fuel pump, Kenlowe fan, alternator, electronic ignition, alloy radiator, stainless steel exhaust and an overdrive. When its late owner bought 'BNE 348B' from Hilton & Moss Sports Cars, Essex in September 2011 it was stated that the car had been used only in the summer since its restoration. The previous owner was a Professor G Southworth of Cambridge.

Since its acquisition in 2011 the Healey has been kept garaged and regularly MoT'd. A partial re-spray was carried out in 2020 and the car has been SORN'd for the last few years. When the owner died in 2016 the Healey was left to his wife, and is offered for sale today by her daughter. Accompanying paperwork includes a BMIHT Certificate; driver's handbook; various receipts for maintenance work; a quantity of MoT certificates; DVLA documents; a V5C Registration Certificate; and a current MoT.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
