Car to be at auction 12/10;
www.historics.co.uk/buying/online-catalogue/1965-austin-healey-3000.aspx

Auction description:
Auction Date: 04 December 2010
Lot - 1965 Austin Healey 3000 MK111 BJ8
* Registration: DOP 5C
* Chassis Number: HBJ8/32573
* Engine Number: 29K-RU-H/7442
* Odometer reading:
* Estimate: £30,000-£35,000

This righthand drive example is finished in white over green coachwork with contrasting black leather hide. Built on 24th August 1965, DOP 5C was despatched on 8th September 1965 to supplying dealer Patrick Motors Ltd of Birmingham. Details of the factory fitted equipment include disc wheels, overdrive, heater, adjustable steering column, laminated windscreen and leather upholstery.

The subject of a thorough restoration during the period of 1988-1989 (pictures and invoices supplied in the history file) the car was painted white over green following the completion of the body restoration. Various invoices from marque specialists Dennis Welch show parts purchased during the restoration and continue throughout the 1990s when the car returned to Dennis Welch for an unleaded cylinder head conversion and additional paintwork.

DOP 5C was serviced by marques specialists Rawles Motorsport in 2000 and has been regularly maintained from 2002-2007 by Orchid restorations of East Sussex, who in turn fitted the aluminium rally specification gear knob which has an overdrive switch mounted to it. Recently serviced and supplied with a history file, UK V5 registration and current MoT road test certificate.

According to the vendor, this attractive big Healey drives exceptionally well and is a potent performer with a particularly pleasing exhaust note. DOP 5C is well presented, on the button and ready to be used.
