1964 Austin Healey 3000 Mk III BJ8 Convertible


This is a restored Austin-Healey 3000 Mark III. The restoration was done by Healey specialists British Motor Corporation of Philadelphia. British Motor used this car as their Spokes-car at numerous events. The restoration was completed in 2010. The resto was a complete "frame-off" nut and bolt done to an extremely high level.

BODY & CHASSIS: The car was completely disassembled. The frame and all steel panels were blasted with Silica and followed immediatley by a self-etching priming of all surfaces. All structural components were restored where needed; all steel and aluminum body panels restored and aligned for perfect fit. The complete underside was then refinished in urethane base-coat, clear-coat.

SUSPENSION: The suspension was also sandblasted and refinished. The front was rebuilt including king pins, tie rod ends, bearings, seals, bushings and springs. The rear rebuild included new bearings, seals and springs.

ELECTRICAL: New wiring harness and fittings; rebuilt generator; rebuilt starter; new switches; new light fixtures; new horns; new trafficator; new fuel pump; new fuel sending unit; new battery shut off switch; rebuilt wiper motor; rebuilt heater fan motor; new voltage regulator; new battery cables; new starter electrical cables.

HYDRAULICS: new brake master cylinder; new clutch master cylinder; new new fluid resevoir; new clutch slave cylinder; new brake lines; new clutch lines; new washer fluid pump and lines; new rear wheel cylinders; rebuilt front brake calipers.

ENGINE: complete rebuild and balanced including new pistons (20 over); new camshaft w/standard grind; line bored block; no-lead fuel head conversion; aluminum oil pan; new high-output oil pump; balanced flywheel; new clutch; new water pump; new freeze plugs; boiled block and head; new transmission seals, overdrive and synchros.

COOLING SYSTEM: re-cored expanded original radiator; tropical high output mechanical fan; new water pump; new fan belt; new 160 T-stat; new hose clamps throughout; new heater hose; new heater core; new heater fan case; new heater controls; new heater control cables; new heater mount plate and new temp gauge.

FUEL SYSTEM: new fuel tank; new fuel lines; new fuel pump; new fuel sending unit; rebuilt fuel gauge; rebuilt and polished carbs; new air filters; reconditioned intake manifold; new overflow intake manifold pipes.

INTERIOR: new show quality walnut dash; new carpet; new seat foam; new front seat bases; new rear seat bases; new rear seat wood kit; new interior kit with leather seating surfaces in red; new Stay-Fast top; new Stay-fast top boot in black; new leather top boot in red; new top seals;; new furflex door seals; new dash top assembly; new door handles; new window handles; rebuilt tachometer and speedometer; new window seals.

CHROME: re-dipped and triple plated.

GLASS: new windshield; side glass original.

PAINT: body was primed with urethane primer and block sanded prior to painting; entire car finished in urethane applying 4 base coats and 4 clear coats; wet block sanded and polished.

WHEELS: new 72 spoke Dayton wire wheels with new Vedrestein tires.

EXHAUST SYSTEM: new stainless steel exhaust; new exhaust insulation throughout; new hanging brackets; reconditioned exhaust manifold.

STEERING: rebuilt steering bos; new factory style steering wheel.
