This 1965 Austin-Healey 3000 BJ8 Mk III is finished in black and red over black upholstery and powered by a 2.9-liter inline-six mated to a four-speed manual transmission. Equipment includes a black soft top, a Jule Enterprises frame, electric overdrive, knock-off wheels, dual SU carburetors, a wood-rimmed steering wheel, Smiths instrumentation, and auxiliary lights. The car was acquired by the current owner in 2002 from a seller in Canada, and it subsequently underwent a mechanical and cosmetic refurbishment. Work performed during current ownership included replacing the frame, repainting the body, and refreshing the interior. This BJ8 is now offered with service records and a clean Maryland title in the seller’s name.
The exterior was refinished in black and red in 2010 by British Restoration Corp. of Philadelphia. Equipment includes a black soft top, fender-mounted mirrors, Lucas driving lights, twin exhaust tips, and chrome bumpers and trim. Cracks in the paint are visible.
Chrome 15″ knock-off wire wheels are mounted with Vredestein Sprint Classic tires. The car is equipped with front disc brakes.
The 2+2 cockpit was refurbished during current ownership and features black leather seats with red piping, as well as black vinyl door panels and matching carpets. Sound insulation has been installed, and equipment includes a heater, front lap belts, and a locking glovebox.
The wood-rimmed steering wheel sits ahead of Smiths instrumentation including a 140-mph speedometer, a tachometer, and auxiliary gauges. The five-digit odometer shows 7k miles. The seller notes that the tachometer needs adjustment, and total mileage is unknown.
The 2.9-liter inline-six was rebuilt in 1996 and is equipped with dual SU carburetors and a Wizard Cooling radiator. The carburetors were rebored and rebuilt in 2010, and an oil change was performed in 2021. The seller notes that the carburetors should be tuned and that the engine drips oil.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission with an electrically activated overdrive. A Jule Enterprises frame was installed in 2005, and the transmission fluid and differential oil were changed in 2021.
The British Motor Industry Heritage Trust certificate lists the original colors and specifications. Spare parts, a workshop manual, and service records are also included in the sale.
