First Registered: 1965

Registration No:TBA

Mileometer:76,000

Chassis No:H-BJ8-L/27258

The car is to all original specification other than the leather Moto-Lita steering wheel.

It has recently undergone a comprehensive restoration. Photos in the file show the bodywork was very sound prior to the strip down. A new soft top has just been fitted along with new Continental tyres on refurbished wire wheels. Colore Green

Mileage 79.248 miles

2912 displacement

Auction detailsType, private seller

Almancil city

Portugal

A very usable example and in excellent condition overall

The interior has been redesigned to a high standard

We are informed that it has undergone regular maintenance during the current ownership

Originally supplied to Canada

Drive left

Previously registered in the US, Ireland and the UK.

Restoration work began in the UK in 2011, but was never completed due to the then owner's deteriorating health.

The work was completed by David Golding Classic Auto who then sold it.

Still carries UK registration numbers

He is currently in Portugal

Accompanied by a substantial historical file

An account of the history of the car from 1992 is provided.

British Motor Industry Heritage Trust certification present

Confirmation of the year of manufacture

Numerous spare parts invoices issued by AH Spares Ltd and other marque specialists.

A selection of workshop and user manuals is present

Various registration documents accompany the car

Photo documentation of the previous bodywork restoration

The current owner bought the car at an auction in 2018.

We are informed that the car has traveled approximately 3,000 kilometers in current ownership.

Refurbished to a high standard

David Golding Classic Auto fitted a new veneer dash.

Elegant black carpet with protective rubber floor mats

All instrumentation and switches were presented very well.

Very little wear to the seat and door upholstery

Moto-Lita three-spoke sports steering wheel in very good order

We notice that the gear lever ring has detached from the base

Boot space is well presented and holds a full size spare wheel.

The cabin of this car is in very good condition and benefits from a very good level of repainting. The upholstery has no signs of excessive wear or damage that we could pinpoint. We have not noticed any subsequent additions or modifications, so it offers a great driving experience that is correct for the era.

The outside

The bodywork restoration started in 2011

Now it's a little patinated in places, but overall it's good and very linear.

We have noticed some corrosion on the outer sills.

There is a light nick to the front of the near side.

The chrome has some minor corrosion, but nothing particularly noticeable.

Light corrosion on the inside edge of the boot lid

The underside looks good overall

Comes with a tonneau cover which has some wear, but no notable damage.

The wire wheels were refinished at David Golding Classic Auto and a new soft top was fitted.

The soft top is in very good condition and works properly

Green always looks good on a 1960s British sports car and this Austin Healey 3000 is no exception.

The paint continues to look good overall with a few small blemishes here and there. The bodywork is also elegant with some corrosion starting to show in places. The roof has been replaced in recent years and therefore remains in good condition. All finishes are elegant, as are the flush wheels and their tyres.

The mechanics

3.0-litre in-line 6-cylinder engine

Four-speed manual gearbox

The seller informs us that the car is regularly serviced.

It presents very well under the hood

We have been informed that performance is good and there are no issues to report

There's a reason the Big Healey enjoyed so much racing success of the time, largely due to its powerful engine and capable chassis. The MkIII "Phase II" had more power than ever before, as well as some chassis improvements to improve ground clearance. We have been told that this specimen is in very good shape and has a high performance. It is said to drive very well and has no known faults.
