This 1964 Austin-Healey 3000 BJ8 Mk III was built in May 1964 and was acquired by the seller’s father in 2003. It is finished in red over black and powered by a 2.9-liter inline-six mated to a four-speed manual transmission with overdrive. Equipment includes a black soft top, a matching top boot, 15″ knock-off wheels, Smiths instrumentation, dual carburetors, and twin exhaust tips. This Austin-Healey is now offered with service records, a British Motor Industry Heritage Trust certificate, and a clean California title.
The car was originally delivered in Colorado Red and features a black soft top and a matching top boot. Additional equipment includes fender-mounted mirrors, vent windows, a split tonneau cover, twin exhaust tips, and chrome bumpers and trim. Flaws in the finish and bubbling paint are detailed in the gallery below.
Chrome 15″ knock-off wire wheels are mounted with Michelin XZX tires. The car is equipped with front disc brakes.
The 2+2 cockpit features black vinyl seats along with matching door panels and carpets. Equipment includes front lap belts, a heater, and a dash-mounted mirror.
The three-spoke steering wheel sits ahead of Smiths instrumentation including a 140-mph speedometer, a 7k-rpm tachometer, and gauges for fuel level, oil pressure, and coolant temperature. The five-digit odometer shows 29k miles, approximately 4k of which were added during current ownership. Total mileage is unknown.
The 2.9-liter inline-six is equipped with dual carburetors.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission with electric overdrive.
The British Motor Industry Heritage Trust certificate lists the original colors and equipment. Manufacturer’s literature and the seller’s service records are also included in the sale.
