You need to contact the BJ8 Registry (sbyers@ec.rr.com). If the car turns up, it will probably be the BJ8 Registry that will recognize it and contact you. That happened once in 2012 when a car turned up in 2006 that was reported to the registry as stolen in 1970. The victim was able to recover the car from the dealer who had it for sale. It helps recovery if you retain a valid title to the car. Stolen cars would likely be disguised by replacing the original identity plates (VIN, body) with remanufactured ones. The registry would recognize such reproduced plates, or even original plates that don't belong on that car.
