This 1966 Austin-Healey 3000 is a left-hand-drive Mk III BJ8 model which is said to have stayed with its original owner for 40 years and was recently acquired by the selling dealer. Power is from a 2,912cc inline-six paired with a four-speed manual transmission and an overdrive, and the car is finished in Colorado Red over a black vinyl interior. This BJ8 is offered with a British Motor Industry Heritage Trust certificate, a tonneau cover and soft top, a car cover, service records, and a clean Washington State title.
The car is finished in Colorado Red, and the left rear quarter panel was repaired in 2015. A black convertible soft top is fitted. A matching tonneau cover is also included in the sale.
Painted knock-off wire wheels with eared spinners were rebuilt in 1993 and are shod in older Michelin XZX tires. A matching spare is located in the trunk. The car is equipped with front disc and rear drum brakes.
The black interior features leather-upholstered front seats, with the rear bench and other trim covered in black vinyl. Matching carpets are protected by rubber mats in the front footwells.
A banjo steering wheel rests in front of a wood dash housing a period radio and controls for the optional heater. Smiths gauges include a tachometer and a five-digit odometer reading 5k miles. Actual mileage is unknown.
The replacement 2,912cc C-Series inline-six was installed by British Motor Car Distributors in Seattle, Washington in 1971, and the car is said to have covered approximately 48k miles since. Induction is via dual SU carburetors. Receipts covering servicing from the 1970s onward are shown in the gallery.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission equipped with a bolt-on overdrive unit. The muffler was replaced in 2012.
The BMIHT certificate shows that the car was painted Colorado Red and delivered to the US in the spring of 1966 with options including wire wheels, the heater, an adjustable steering column, and overdrive.
