Current Bid: $22,000 Ends In: 4 days
This 1966 Austin-Healey 3000 BJ8 Mk III is finished in British Racing Green over black leather and was recently acquired by the selling dealer from its longterm previous owner. Subsequent work included rebuilding the 2.9-liter inline-six and resealing the 4-speed manual transmission, as well as installing new wood dash veneers. Maintenance records are said to begin upon the previous owner’s purchase in 1974, and cover a repaint in 1980 along with new upholstery five years ago. This BJ8 is now being offered with the service records and previous registration cards, a matching hardtop, an owner’s manual, and a clear Oregon title.
The body was repainted British Racing Green in 1980 and has since received some areas of touch-up according to the seller. Exterior equipment includes a rear luggage rack, fender-mounted mirrors, and wire knock-off wheels with 2-eared spinners. A set of five painted wheels accompany the vehicle. A black soft top and boot cover are included, along with an aftermarket hardtop.
New leather upholstery was installed five years ago, and the seats are equipped with lap belts. Rubber mats line the footwells and the banjo-style steering wheel features an aftermarket cover. New dash veneers were fitted by the selling dealer, and Smiths instrumentation includes a 140-mph speedometer with a 5-digit odometer that shows under 2k miles, though total mileage is unknown.
The 2.9L inline-six was recently rebuilt with new pistons, rings, and bearings, along with reground camshafts and valves. The 4-speed manual transmission is equipped with Laycock de Normanville electrically-actuated overdrive and was resealed by the selling dealer.
