This 1967 Austin-Healey 3000 Mark III BJ8 has been with the seller for 38 years and is powered by a 327ci Chevrolet V8 backed by a Muncie four-speed manual transmission. According to the seller, it is one of two built by Tony Black of Keith Black Racing Engines. Features include a nine-inch Ford rear axle, ladder bars, a drive shaft safety plate, manual steering and brakes, a custom louvered hood, and a manual convertible top. Refinished in red with a black top over a new black vinyl interior, this Austin-Healey is available now and comes with the uninstalled front bumper, hood, and additional parts as well as a clear California title in the seller’s name.

EXTERIOR - FEATURES

The exterior of this Austin-Healey was resprayed in red 20 years ago. Features include a removed front bumper, a chrome grille, a custom louvered hood, a driver-side mirror, a black convertible top with a black top boot, a chrome trunk lid handle and hinges, and a chrome rear bumper. The seller notes some paint chips on the hood, a ding on the right front fender, and a couple of small scratches at the rear of the car.

EXTERIOR - WHEELS AND TIRES

A set of polished aluminum 15-inch Cragar Pro Star wheels is wrapped in 185/70/15 Riken Radial 70 steel-belted tires.

INTERIOR - FEATURES

The front bucket seats and rear seats were reupholstered with black vinyl in 2022. Features include black carpeting; a floor-mounted manual transmission shifter; racing seat belts; manual windows, steering, and brakes; and a wood-rimmed Lecarra steering wheel.

INTERIOR - GAUGES

A set of Stewart Warner gauges, including a 160-mph speedometer, an 8K-rpm tachometer, and gauges for the fuel level, oil pressure, water temperature, and amps, is located ahead of the driver. With 10K miles added during ownership, the odometer reads 31K miles. The true mileage on this vehicle is unknown.

ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION

Power is provided by a 327ci Chevrolet V8 and backed by a Muncie four-speed manual transmission. Underhood features include finned aluminum valve covers, an aluminum intake, a Holley four-barrel carburetor, a chrome air cleaner, and a chrome alternator. The most recent service consisted of an oil change, the radiator being rodded out and flushed, the carburetor being rebuilt, and repairs to a small leak in the rear end.

UNDERCARRIAGE

This Austin-Healey was factory-equipped with an independent front suspension and a solid rear drive axle. Upgrades include a nine-inch Ford rear drive axle, ladder bars, a custom drive shaft, and a drive shaft safety plate. Custom dual exhaust outlets exit at the rear. Braking is provided by manual front discs and rear drums. Additional photos of the undercarriage can be seen in the carousel to the right.
