This 1967 Austin-Healey 3000 BJ8 Mk III was refurbished in the early 2000s and was acquired by the seller in 2009. It is finished in black over red leather and is powered by a 2.9-liter inline-six paired with a four-speed manual transmission. Features include a black soft top, 15″ knock-off wire wheels, front disc brakes, a top boot, a tonneau cover, a hood scoop, a push-button radio, a cabin heater, and front bucket seats. This 3000 Mk III is now offered with a British Motor Industry Heritage Trust certificate, service records, a driver’s handbook, and a clean New Jersey title in the seller’s name.
The car is finished in black and was reportedly refurbished in the early 2000s. Features include two-tone pinstripes, a folding black soft top, a top boot, a tonneau cover, a badge bar, fender-mounted mirrors, driving lights, and chrome bumpers with overriders. The seller notes a blemish on the trunk lid.
The 15″ knock-off wire wheels are mounted with 165HR15 Vredestein Sprint Classic tires. Braking is handled by front discs and rear drums.
The two-plus-two cabin features bucket seats trimmed in red leather, and interior appointments include front lap belts, a push-button radio, a cabin heater, a center console, a locking glovebox, wood trim, and a passenger-side grab handle.
The wood-rimmed steering wheel frames Smiths black-dial instrumentation consisting of a 140-mph speedometer, a 7k-rpm tachometer, a fuel-level gauge, and a combination gauge displaying oil pressure and water temperature. The five-digit odometer shows 42k miles, approximately 5k of which were added under current ownership.
The 2.9-liter inline-six featured dual SU HD8 carburetors from the factory for a rating of 150 horsepower and 173 lb-ft of torque. The seller states that the cylinder head has been rebuilt and the piston rings replaced.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission with Laycock-de Normanville electric overdrive.
The British Motor Industry Heritage Trust Certificate lists the factory colors and options along with a build date in August 1966.
