Car offered at:
www.classic-chrome.co.uk/cars/austin-healey-3000-mkiii-phase-2-1966-d-british-ra ...

Sellers description:
According to the BMIHT Heritage Certificate, this BJ8 phase 2 Healey was built between 26th & 29th September 1966 for personal export to North America.

Chassis No: H-BJ8-L/37972 is finished in its original specification and colour scheme of British Racing Green with Black Leather trim and a Black vinyl Soft Top, Black carpets, Heater, Adjustable Steering Column, Laminated Windscreen, Cigar lighter, Radio, 2912cc S6 Engine, 4 Speed Geabox with Overdrive on 3rd & 4th gears and Wire Wheels.

The car was imported to the UK from the USA in 1989 and was purchased by Imran Khan on behalf of his friend Jonathan Stubbs who took the car to Munich, Germany in early 1992 and gave it to a local specialist to restore on his behalf.
The original Engine was removed and sent to Curran Auto Repairs in Merstham, Surrey who completely rebuilt, balanced and Blue-printed the Engine and sent back to Germany to be refitted into the car.

The restoration in Germany was completed in June 1993 and this included many new panels including wings, floors and sills, new brakes, new suspension parts, all hydraulics, tubular exhaust manifold + new exhaust with side pipes and numerous other components + there is a huge history file containing receipts and invoices for works and parts used and totalling almost £10,000. The mileage on the car upon completion of all works was 20,600 miles.

The car was used in Germany until brought back to the UK in August 2000 when it was given to Classic Coachbuilders in Sittingbourne, Kent for a conversion to RHD plus a few additional repairs costing £5,436.25. In January 2001 they fitted a new interior, new vinyl Soft top and rubber seals throughout + a new Brake Servo, new Distributor, new Dynamo and a full service totalling £5,803.55.

In total, almost £22,000 had been spent on the car before it was given to us to sell on his behalf. We sold the car to the current owners in April 2002 for £25,000 at a mileage of 33,617 and 13,000 miles on the rebuilt engine.
During their ownership they have also spent a fair amount of money on maintaining the car and works carried out include a new wiring loom, rebuilt front suspension, reconditioned Overdrive unit, new Brakes, Carburettors overhauled, new exhaust system and additional paintwork carried out to maintain its beautiful bodywork.

It has also been serviced and MOT'd every year and they have added new Chrome Wire Wheels and a new wooden Mota-Lita Steering Wheel. Orchard Restorations have carried out most of this work for them and it now has just over 43,000 miles on the clock.

It was driven 600 'trouble-free' miles to the Le Mans Classic and back in July and we can certainly testify that this is a fantastic car to drive and we doubt that you will drive a better 3000 MKIII.
It is in excellent condition and needs to be seen and driven to be fully appreciated.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
