This 1967 Austin-Healey 3000 BJ8 Mk III spent years in Georgia and underwent a body-off refurbishment there between 2008 and 2011. The current owner’s uncle owned the car in Florida from 2013 until the current owner inherited the vehicle in 2020 and relocated it to Pennsylvania. Finished in white with a blue soft top over blue leather upholstery, the car is powered by a 2.9-liter inline-six paired with a four-speed manual transmission with overdrive. Other equipment includes 15″ wire wheels, dual SU carburetors, driving lights, a wood-rimmed steering wheel, a wood dashboard, front lap belts, a heater, a top boot, and a tonneau cover. The brake-light pressure switch and the high-beam headlight switch were replaced and the brakes were bled in February 2024. This 3000 Mk III is now offered on dealer consignment with a Body Production Windscreen Card, manufacturer’s literature, refurbishment and service records, superseded Georgia registration certificates, and a Pennsylvania title.
The car was finished from the factory in Healey Blue, and it was stripped, treated with epoxy primer, and repainted in white during the aforementioned refurbishment. The blue folding soft top has been replaced, and a matching top boot and a tonneau cover will accompany the vehicle. Features include a hood scoop, driving lights, dual side mirrors, dual exhaust outlets, bright trim, and chrome bumpers with overriders.
Chrome-finished 15″ knock-off wire wheels are mounted with 185/65 Kumho Solus HP4 tires, and a matching spare is located in the trunk. Braking is handled by front discs and rear drums. The brake-light pressure switch was replaced and the brakes were bled in February 2024.
The four-seat cabin was retrimmed in blue leather during the refurbishment, and the blue carpeting was replaced. Interior appointments include front lap belts, a wood dashboard, a locking glovebox, a dash-mounted rearview mirror, a cabin heater, a center armrest, and black rubber floor mats. The high-beam headlight switch was replaced in February 2024.
The wood-rimmed steering wheel frames Smiths black-dial instrumentation consisting of a 140-mph speedometer, a 7k-rpm tachometer, a fuel-level gauge, and a combination gauge displaying oil pressure and water temperature. The five-digit odometer shows 58k miles, approximately 250 of which were added under current ownership.
The 2.9-liter inline-six featured dual SU HD8 carburetors from the factory for a rating of 150 horsepower and 173 lb-ft of torque. The engine and the radiator were rebuilt during the refurbishment, and a replacement cloth wiring harness was installed along with a high-torque starter and stainless brake lines and fuel lines. The oil was changed most recently in July 2024.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a rebuilt four-speed manual transmission with Laycock de Normanville electric overdrive.
The Body Production Windscreen Card indicates the vehicle’s original colors and options.
The Pennsylvania title carries a “Classic Vehicle” brand.
