This 1967 Austin-Healey 3000 BJ8 Mark III was acquired by the seller’s late husband out of Washington D.C in 2010. Finished in Healey Blue with a dark blue top and interior, the car is powered by a 2.9-liter inline-six backed by a four-speed manual gearbox with overdrive. Equipment includes factory power-assisted brakes, roll-up windows, twin SU HD8 carburetors, wire wheels, and a stainless exhaust system. Refurbishment work performed over the past decade has reportedly consisted of refinishing the body, rebuilding the engine, replacing the convertible top, and overhauling the brake system. This BJ8 is being offered with a tonneau cover, owner’s manual, service records, and a clean Maryland title.
The body was reportedly repainted Healey Blue in 2011, and the seller states that the blue convertible top has been replaced. Noted imperfections include several chips along the fender welting, corrosion on the luggage rack, and aged door seals.
A set of replacement silver-painted wire wheels are wrapped in Vredestein T-Trac tires. The power-assisted brake system features front discs and has reportedly been overhauled within the last decade.
The Mark III features fold-out vent windows along with roll-up side windows. The interior of this example is trimmed in dark blue with silver piping over matching carpets and branded rubber floor mats. The seller notes a tear in the center console leather as well as cracked wood dash trim.
A factory steering wheel sits ahead of Smiths instrumentation, including a 140-mph speedometer, a 7k-rpm tachometer, and a five-digit odometer showing 764 miles. Total mileage is unknown.
The 2.9-liter C-series inline-six was factory-rated at 150 horsepower and 158 lb-ft of torque when new. The engine is said to have been rebuilt in 2010, and the fuel pump was replaced in July 2019. The carburetors were recently adjusted per the seller.
